Three people sustained serious injuries, including one person with a broken pelvis, after a car crash on West Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach.
Police say three people were found with severe injuries in the aftermath of a crash that occurred on West Atlantic Avenue. According to eyewitness accounts, the driver of a Dodge truck was traveling eastbound on West Atlantic Avenue when he crossed the median into the westbound lane of the road.
The truck collided with a Volkswagen hatchback, sending it crashing into a Toyota Corolla that was traveling on the inside lane. Both cars, the hatchback and the Toyota Corolla, drifted onto the right shoulder of the road before coming to a stop.
Emergency services were on the scene to rescue the injured victims and clear the wreckage. The driver of the Dodge truck sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated at the scene.
A front seat passenger in the Volkswagen hatchback suffered from neck injuries and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the hatchback also sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla suffered a head injury and was put in an ambulance for transport to the hospital.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. It is still unknown why the driver of the truck left his lane in such a manner. The Florida Highway Patrol is charge of the investigation.
