Three-Car Crash Sends Two to the Hospital in Boca Raton
Two people injured and sent to the hospital after a car crash along North Military Trail, Boca Raton.
Officers of the Florida Highway Patrol were spotted at the scene of an accident that involved three vehicles on North Military Trail in Boca Raton. Emergency services arrived to rescue the injured victims and clear the wreckage. Police are investigating the possibility that the crash resulted from a fatigued driver.
Officials noted two vehicles, a blue Ford Focus and a Nissan Almera, parked by the side of the road. The Ford Focus had a mechanical fault, and the driver of the Nissan Almera stopped his vehicle to lend a helping hand. Subsequently, the Nissan driver stood by the hood of the Ford, attempting to fix the malfunctioning car, when a Dodge Avenger, which was traveling on the northbound lane of the road, drifted outside its lane and headed straight for the parked vehicles.
Consequently, the Dodge crashed into the Ford Focus, ramming into the driver who was standing by the car. The impact pushed the Ford off the shoulder of the road; both vehicles suffered extensive damage from the crash.
Authorities revealed that the Nissan driver, who was hit by the stray vehicle, is in critical condition presently. Additionally, the Dodge driver suffered injuries as well. He sustained multiple fractures; emergency responders rushed him to the hospital via ambulance.
A backseat passenger in the Ford Focus sustained minor injuries in the crash; however, paramedics treated her at the scene of the accident.
The FHP is still conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
A police spokesperson advised drivers to not get behind the wheel of a
vehicle after taking any medication which induces drowsiness. Moreover, police recommend motorists pull off the road to rest whenever they feel fatigued while driving.
