A tractor-trailer crash along Interstate 95 resulted in gridlock on the busy highway in Delray Beach.
A spokesperson for the Delray Beach Fire Department said the crash occurred close to the West Atlantic Avenue exit. Officials believe it is a collision between a tractor-trailer and another vehicle.
Emergency first responders were on scene to attend to injured persons. Consequently, the two right lanes of I-95 remained blocked due to the crash. Officers of the Florida Highway patrol were spotted on the scene controlling the flow of traffic in an attempt to clear the gridlock.
Presently, officials have not released information regarding the number of injured persons nor the identities of the people involved in the crash. Delray Beach Firefighters were on scene to help with the wreckage, and they cleared a fuel leak that ensued from the crash.
Meanwhile, authorities advised drivers to avoid the affected section of I-95 until crews could remove the wreckage. This will hasten the work of emergency services personnel on the ground.
Officers of the FHP are conducting a full investigation into the cause of the crash.
Authorities recommend motorists to be vigilant while traveling on busy highways and to put on their seat belts at all times.
