A 19-year-old teenager was sent to the hospital in critical condition after a high speed crash along U.S. Route 27 in South Bay.
Officers of the Florida Highway Patrol were called to the scene of an accident involving two vehicles in a high speed crash on U.S. Route 27. The driver of a silver Chevrolet Camaro was heading northbound on U.S. Route 27 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle.
The Camaro brushed against a 2006 Dodge Ram which was also traveling in the northbound lane. The Camaro skidded and rolled a few times over before coming to a rest in the middle of the road.
The Dodge Ram also lost control as a result of the impact, but managed to regain control of his vehicle before coming to rest in the median strip on the left shoulder of the road. “I could have sworn the man in the Camaro was toast. That car must’ve flipped over more times than I can count” said a backseat passenger in the Dodge Ram who was not hurt in the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet Camaro was in critical condition when paramedics arrived. He had multiple fractures, severe head trauma, and a large piece of glass stuck in his back. Paramedics kept the glass in place to avoid bleeding out and placed him in an ambulance for transport to the hospital. He is still in critical condition at the moment.
A spokesperson for the FHP said no one else was hurt in the crash and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate crash. “This is a serious accident involving two vehicles which ultimately sent one person to the hospital with critical injuries. We wish the victims a quick recovery and hope the investigators can quickly determine what caused the accident.
