Emergency services were on scene after a two-vehicle crash along SW Kanner Highway. Police officers were also on ground to barricade the crash location.

According to authorities, a red Pontiac G6 was traveling southbound on SW Kanner Highway when it reached the intersection of Pratt Whitney Road. Consequently, a 2004 blue Mazda was also approaching the intersection from the westbound lane of Pratt Whitney Road when both vehicles collided at the intersection.

The driver of the Pontiac was badly injured in the crash; he suffered severe head trauma and was placed in an ambulance for transport to the hospital. Police say he was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred. Additionally, two backseat passengers in the Pontiac were also hospitalized for multiple injuries. Meanwhile, a front seat passenger in the Pontiac sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics on the scene.

Firefighters had to cut the frame of the Mazda to evacuate the injured driver, who was squeezed in due to the impact of the crash. Paramedics transported him to the hospital in critical condition.

Police reports did not expressly indicate alcohol as a factor in the crash; however, there remains a possibility of driver impairment. More information will be made available when test results are concluded.

Police are conducting a full investigation into the crash.
