A woman sustained severe damage to her right arm after a car crash involving two vehicles along Okeechobee Road in Fort Pierce.
The Florida Highway Patrol revealed that a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Okeechobee Road and 25th Street left a woman with severe damage to her arm. Two others involved in the crash also sustained serious injuries.
A Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound on 25th Street when it made a left turn into Okeechobee Road. It was in the middle of navigating the turn when it was struck by a 2010 Audi A4 that was approaching the intersection from westbound Okeechobee Road at a high rate of speed.
The Audi crashed into the passenger’s side of the Chevrolet Malibu, trapping a front seat passenger in the wreck. The trapped passenger, a 34-year old woman, had her arm crushed by the front passenger door.
Firemen were able to free her from the wreck and paramedics rushed her to the nearest hospital. Doctors say she may never recover the full use of her right arm again, but she was lucky to have survive the accident.
The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu sustained a head injury and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The driver of the Audi suffered multiple cuts from fragments of glass from the windshield. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police say the cause of the crash has not been established yet, but investigations are being conducted.
