Canal Point Crash Leaves 21-Year-Old Man In Critical Condition

A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after a high-speed crash on SW Conners Highway in Canal Point.

The two lanes of northbound SW Conners Highway were littered with debris after a crash in Canal Point. Emergency first responders were on scene to clear the wreckage after the accident which sent a young man to the hospital with critical injuries.

According to authorities, a black Chevrolet Corvette was traveling northbound on SW Conners Highway at s high rate of speed. A Ford truck was approaching in the opposite direction in the southbound lane.

The 21-year-old driver of the Chevrolet lost control of his vehicle and sideswiped the Ford truck on the driver’s side. The impact of the crash sent the Chevrolet off road until it crashed into a tree a couple of feet from the road.

Paramedics found the driver of the Corvette in an extremely critical condition. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the Ford truck sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated by paramedics on the scene.

Alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in the crash. Police are still conducting investigations into the cause of the crash.

Drivers are advised to adhere to speed limits at all times.
