Two women were seriously injured in a crash along Island Road in Jupiter.
Police officers were on scene after a single vehicle crash involving a Toyota Tundra Truck on Island Road that sent two women to the hospital in Jupiter. Authorities say the wrecked vehicle was found resting against a tree close to the right shoulder of northbound Island Road.
A 42-year-old woman was driving the Blue Toyota Tundra on northbound Island Road when she lost control of the truck and swerved off the road. The vehicle continued in its trajectory, mowing down a small tree before colliding with another tree a couple of feet from the road.
The vehicle sustained severe damage from the impact of the crash. A front seat passenger in the truck sustained head injuries in the crash. She was rushed to the ER by paramedics at the scene.
The driver was trapped in the truck for over an hour before firemen successfully evacuated her from the mangled wreck. She suffered multiple fractures in the crash and was placed in an ambulance for transport to the hospital.
No other vehicle was involved in the crash. It is still not clear why the truck went off the road. Police are still conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
