An impaired man from Hobe Sound was involved in a car crash with a minivan along West Indiantown Road in Jupiter.
Police are investigating a car crash involving a families minivan and a Ford Edge along eastbound West Indiantown Road in Jupiter. Investigators believe the driver of the Ford Edge was impaired using codeine before the crash.
The crash occurred when a Ford Edge which was merging into West Indiantown Road from U.S. Route I-95 crashed into a minivan in the eastbound lane of West Indiantown Road. The force of the collision sent the minivan spinning into the outside lane where it was T-Boned by a Toyota Avensis.
The driver of the minivan was a 45-year-old woman. She suffered a leg injury and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Her 12-year-old daughter, who was the front seat passenger, was taken to the hospital for multiple fractures. The third occupant was an 8-year-old girl who was lucky enough to survive with just minor lacerations. She was treated by paramedics on the scene.
The driver of the Avensis was not hurt in the crash. The Hobe Sound driver of the Ford Edge was treated of minor injuries sustained in the crash. He was later detained by the police for questioning.
Investigations are still ongoing.
