A college student died in a two-vehicle crash at South Flamingo Road and Griffin Road in Cooper City, Broward Sheriff said.
A young man believed to be a college student in his 20s died after a truck crashed into his car in Cooper City, a Broward County official said.
The impact of the crash caused the car to crash into a nearby palm tree near the intersection of South Flamingo Road and Griffin Road, said Michael Kane, Battalion Chief of Broward Fire Rescue. The man’s name and college details were not released.
First emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash soon after the crash happened. The man was transported to a nearby regional hospital where he was confirmed dead upon arrival, according to the crash report. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The cause of the crash will be investigated by Broward Sheriff’s deputies, Kane said.
The crash shut down South Flamingo Road and Griffin Road in Cooper city, causing traffic delays. Vehicles are seen pulling into nearby Walmart Supercenter’s and Sunoco Gas Station’s parking lots. It is best to completely avoid this route and make use of alternative routes.
