The 62-year-old Port St. Lucie man killed by a car while crossing the street in Port St. Lucie has been identified as J.L. Miller, city police said in a tweet.
J.L. Miller was crossing SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard when a Dodge Charger traveling east hit him as it tried to change lanes, a report from Port St. Lucie police said.
The impact tossed Miller into the westbound lanes of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard, where Miller was struck again by a minivan, the report said. According to police, Miller sustained severe trauma during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge Charger, a 30-year-old man and the 33-year-old driver of the minivan both of Port St. Lucie, were not injured, police said.
First emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the accident happened. Unfortunately, the pedestrian died immediately and was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the extensive trauma suffered in the crash.
“A pedestrian was killed in Port St. Lucie after being hit by a car. The pedestrian killed in the crash on the 200 block of Port St. Lucie Boulevard, just east of Florida’s Turnpike, has been identified as J.L Miller. Further investigations are ongoing and charges are pending,” Port St Lucie Police Department wrote in an official statement.
