The Florida Highway Patrol says a 48-year-old driver of a Mercedes Benz went off the road on Wildcat Trail just east of Locks Road.
The car crashed into a 14-year-old boy causing severe injuries.
First emergency responders arrived at the scene of the crash soon after the accident happened and transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition.
The Mercedes Benz driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. A third victim of the crash, a 17-year-old girl who was a passenger, went to Martin Memorial South to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The FHP said it’s not clear whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt.
Wildcat Trail is partially closed causing traffic delays. Vehicles on this route are pulling to the roadside to allow crews work. It is best to use alternative routes.
Please drive with caution and stay safe.
