A Delray Beach couple was killed in a crash in Lake Worth. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred near 10th Avenue and Military Trail.
Deputies say a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old man was traveling westbound on 10th Avenue on the inside lane. A second vehicle, driven by a 49-year-old man, traveled eastbound on the inside lane. A third vehicle, driven by a woman, 54, also was traveling eastbound behind the second vehicle.
The first driver lost control going around a curve, crossed another lane and violently crashed head on into another vehicle. The vehicle spun out and while the third driver attempted to avoid the crash, he swerved left, deputies say. However, the front of the third car ended up hitting the rear passenger of the second vehicle. Both cars came to a final stop with the second vehicle wedged in between them.
The driver and a passenger in the second vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as a Delray Beach couple.
This road is closed due to the severity of the crash, causing traffic delays. Vehicles on this route are pulling to the roadside to allow crews work. It is best to use an alternative route.
