Teenagers from a nearby Community High School in Loxahatchee sustained serious injuries after being struck by a car in the neighborhood, according to the authorities.
The teenagers, 16-year-old girl and her 17-year-old friend, were crossing the road in front of the Palm Beach County High School when a northbound 2000 Sports Utility Vehicle hit them both on Seminole Pratt in Whitney.
First emergency responders arrived at the scene of the crash soon after the accident happened. The girls were found seriously injured and were transported by helicopter to St. Mary’s Medical Center. The SUV driver did not sustain any injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The police are working on investigating the crash.
The road is closed due to the severity of the crash. Vehicles on this route are pulling to the roadside to allow crews work. It is best to use an alternative route.
