An 18-year-old Royal Palm Beach woman was killed when a car she and her friend were driving in had crashed with a semi, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office reported.
The woman was a passenger in a car which had crashed after it collided with a semi, a sheriff’s report revealed. “She was an adventurous, exciting, happy person,” the brother of the victim said.
A Royal Palm Beach driver was injured during the crash, which had taken place on the 8500 block of Belvedere Road in suburban West Palm Beach, the report said. According to the report, the driver was speeding in a 2005 BMW model. He had lost control of the car and crashed into a semi. It started to spin, then it went up on the center median and slammed against three several trees, throwing both individuals out of the vehicle.
The woman was confirmed dead at the scene while the driver was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach in critical condition. No update on his current condition was immediately available.
The Palm Beach County School District said the victim had attended a charter school but did not provide any further details. The Sheriff’s Office reported that no charges had been filed as sheriff deputies are still investigating the crash.
