A Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy was taken to a West Palm Beach hospital and another man was taken into custody after a car chase out of the Palm Beach County ended in a very serious car collision.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies were chasing after an armed carjacker in the Green acre’s area when the collision happened.
According to the sheriff’s office, the carjacker allegedly fired shots before he crashed into an unmarked Martin County vehicle. The force of the crash had caused the county car, which was parked, to overturn.
The deputy was then flown to the hospital with a head injury. Martin County Sheriff said that the deputy was in a severe shock at the scene but is expected to survive.
Both directions north of Indiantown Road the in the south of Bridge Road and Palm Beach County had been closed. A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said the carjacking occurred a few miles before the intersection.
The crash is still under investigation.
