Broward County Police are still investigating after a 10-year-old boy crashed a car with a 7-year-old passenger on I-64.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said they got a call from concerned foster parents who woke up to find the two young boys gone with their Lexus. “They thought the kids had taken the vehicle to possibly go to look for their dog,” said a Broward County officer.

The police had received a call from someone that was following behind the two boys to Gum Springs, where the two struck a Nissan Rogue. The two continued onto I-64 and eventually crashed into a median around Howard County.

The car was totaled and one pedestrian was injured. The 10-year-old was so small that the driver’s seat was pushed all the way up so he could reach the pedals.

“When I got there, they were sitting by the guardrail just like normal. No hollering” said the truck driver.

A Broward County Sergeant was called to the scene to take the boys home, where they were turned back into the foster parent’s custody. The police are still investigating the crash.
