Ademir Dos Santos De Paula, a father of two, was critically injured just after he dropped off his daughter at volleyball camp.
The 48-year-old father of two was a few minutes away from home when the accident occurred. He was waiting to turn left onto Northwest 12th Avenue when a SUV crashed into his car on Palmetto Park Road, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
The father of two was among the eight people injured in the unfortunate crash. De Paula was taken to Delray Medical Center with critical injuries, along with six teenagers in the SUV and another man who was involved in the wreck. All eight people injured in the crash are expected to survive, according to a Palm Beach Fire Rescue spokesman.
Five of the six teenagers in the SUV were juveniles. The Sheriff’s Office said the SUV may have sped through a stop signal on westbound Palmetto Park Road just before the crash.
Authorities have said the teenagers are suspected of committing an armed robbery on Federal Highway shortly before the crash. No charges had been filed yet, however, the FHP hopes sufficient information about the crash as well identities of its victims would soon be made available.
