Off-Duty Police Officer Injured In Car Crash
An off-duty FHP officer was seriously injured when he was hit by a car, authorities said.
An officer with the FHP department and another 25-year old FHP officer had pulled their vehicles to the right shoulder in the eastbound lane of I-95 in Palm Beach County.
The Officers were outside of their cars when a 2013 Ford sedan barreled onto the shoulder, Palm Beach County police said.
A 27-year old off duty officer was standing near the other driver’s vehicle when the third vehicle crashed into his car just past exit 53, causing it to hit the other 25-year old man’s car and striking the officer.
First emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the accident happened. The 27-year old officer was transported to the hospital in the Palm Beach County with serious injuries. The other officer was not injured, police said.
The 33-year-old driver of the Ford was taken to a Palm Beach County Hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing.
