A pregnant woman in the Palm Beach County is in a critical condition after a tractor trailers hub cap crashed through her car’s windshield, Federal Highway Patrol officials said.
A 38-year old pregnant woman of Palm Beach County was driving home from work when a 100-pound hub cap came loose from a truck, smashed into her windshield and left her critically injured, Florida Highway Patrol reported.
First emergency responders arrived at the scene of the accident shortly after the accident happened and the victim was transported to the hospital.
The pregnant woman, who is a few weeks to her expected date of delivery, is currently in intensive care. Authorities said they are investigating the incident.
The name of the woman and the driver have not yet been released.
The victim’s family said she’s a “devoted mother” to her young daughters. “This tragic event has effected us greatly and we are hoping that she recovers fully,” a family spokesperson told the news station. Police are still investing the incident.
