An 83-year-old man and his 61-year-old son were killed in a car wreck, authorities said. Both were from Inman, South Carolina.
Investigators said the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and hit an embankment, killing two passengers and leaving the driver severely injured.
A Martin County Deputy said the three men had to be extricated from the GMC truck that was pulling a trailer carrying a race car and other equipment.
The driver’s name was not released. The deputy said he was transported to a hospital in Martin County for treatment of injuries including several broken bones.
No other vehicles were involved in the wreck. The Florida Highway Patrol said it was still investigating the incident and had not determined whether to cite the driver.
Investigations are still ongoing and FHP suspects drugs or alcohol to be part of the wreck, however, that hasn’t been proven yet. The names of the deceased are still being withheld.
