A car-wash employee in Palm Beach struck and killed an 85-year-old woman and critically injured her 90-year-old husband while pulling out of the drive-through, cops said.
“He ran the woman over. He crushed her,” recalled one witness, who declined to be named.
“It was horrible. The employee didn’t know how to drive.”
According to police, the employee at the Marine Park Car Wash rear-ended the Honda Accord that the elderly couple arrived in.
The pair was inspecting the damage when the worker slammed into them and then hit reverse and struck them both again, witnesses said.
He had initially backed up into the building in a panic after the rear-end collision before accelerating forward and nailing the man and woman just moments later, the witnesses said.
“I heard all this noise. I look up and see this woman pinned between cars. As I look further, the car left and came back and hit her again. It was horrible. It was the most horrible thing I’ve ever witnessed.”
The woman sustained severe injuries to her head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband was transported to the hospital and listed in critical condition.
Police said the car-wash employee remained on the scene and there were no immediate charges against him. The FHP is investigating.
