Driver Struck Two Children While Having A Seizure
A seizure-prone woman mowed down two kids crossing a Palm Beach County street with their moms, law enforcement sources and an FHP official said.
A Mayor in Palm Beach county lashed out at the driver, citing eight camera-based tickets for speeding in school zones and running red lights that she racked up.
“She should never have been allowed to be driving a car after what we know of these other violations,” the Mayor said during a news conference at FHP headquarters in Palm Beach County.
“I share the frustration of many in my community, I wish she were under arrest right now and I certainly believe that measures need to be taken to make sure she will not drive a car anymore.”
Law enforcement sources also said the driver was foaming at the mouth, which is among the symptoms of a seizure.
The driver was injured and is currently being hospitalized at Delray Medical Center. She told police that she suffers from multiple sclerosis and heart problems and had a seizure, sources have said.
A 1-year old baby boy and a 4-year old girl were critically injured when they were struck by the driver’s white 2016 Volvo at the intersection of Eastbound and Westbound Avenue.
Their moms were both injured and are hospitalized in Palm Beach County.
