The accident happened on Westbound Road near a shopping mall in Martin County.

The 19-year-old woman was a passenger in the 2004 Acura that was carrying three others at the time of the crash.

The car was speeding east down Westbound Road when the driver tried to make a sharp right turn onto the Eastbound Road police said. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the car to slide off the road as it was rounding the turn.

The car then slammed into the garage of the house.

“We heard a loud bang and then a man screaming,” said a 51-year old man, who lives next to the crash site.

“Every car goes too fast on this road, she said. “About three years ago a car crashed into my yard. It is crazy here.”

The woman died at a hospital. The three others were treated for non life-threatening injuries.

No one in the house was injured, police authorities said. The crash is under investigation.
