Dilcia Ayala, 25, and Sandra Calderon, 20, Killed In Suburban Lantana Crash
Two Palm Springs women, identified as Dilcia Ayala, 25, and Sandra Calderon, 20, have died following a crash in suburban Lantana, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
Dilcia Ayala, 25, and Sandra Calderon, 20, were killed after the 2006 Honda Accord that Ayala was driving crossed the median into oncoming traffic on Military Trail and was struck by a 2001 Ford F-150.
The Honda was traveling southbound on Military Trail north of Lantana Road when Ayala lost control for unknown reasons, Florida Highway Patrol Officials Said.
The Accord spun counterclockwise and crossed the center median into northbound lanes.
The front of the Ford pickup smashed into the Accord’s passenger side. First emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the accident happened.
A 42-year old driver, also of the Palm Springs area, was driving the F-150 and sustained serious injuries, PBSO said. He remained at Delray Medical Center.
The passenger in the pickup was not injured.
The crash shut down a portion of Military Trail for several hours. Rescue workers were forced to cut two of the victims out of their vehicles.
