A woman was critically injured when a gas station attendant tried to move a SUV and lost control of the vehicle, pinning her against a wall and injuring an off-duty-cop, authorities said.
The horrific accident happened when the worker at a St. Lucie County service station on the corner of Lakewood Park and East 102 Street, tried to move a customer’s Land Rover and started going the wrong way down 102nd.
An off-duty cop who just happened to be in the area managed to jump out of the way of the oncoming SUV and suffered only a minor ankle injury, police said.
The SUV struck several parked cars before slamming into a woman and pinning her against a wall.
She was rushed to a hospital in the St. Lucie County in critical condition. The police officer was being treated at Delray Medical Center.
“Three other pedestrians were affected by the crash,” Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
They had been rush to the Delray Medical Center for treatment.
Florida Highway Patrol officials are still investigating the case to find out if alcohol or drugs had been a factor.
