A taxi crashed into a Palm Beach County man and flung him across three lanes of traffic before his lifeless body skidded to the curb.
The taxi struck a 25-year old, near a bus stop on the corner of Delray Beach and 170th Street, police said.
The 44-yer-old taxi driver fainted behind the wheel before the collision. He crashed into the bus stop killing a 5-year old boy and critically injuring a 55-year old woman.
The taxi driver was not ticketed or hit with any criminal charges for the crash, which the Palm Beach County District Attorney says is still under investigation.
“Accident at 170 and Grand Concourse in front of my bodega,” wrote a Facebook user in Spanish when he uploaded the video. “This cabbie appears to be crazy.”
A Taxi and Limousine Commission spokesman said the agency suspended the driver’s license immediately after the crash, pending the outcome of the FHP investigation.
Safe street advocates said investigators should be probing the driver’s medical records, phone use that day, as well as the cab’s black box and his driving history.
“A state and city licensed driver has killed two people in broad daylight,” said a man of the safe street group Right of Way. “The public has every right to demand that everything about the crash and the driver be made public.”
Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate crash. “This is a serious accident involving a cab, which ultimately, resulted in the death of a two people.
