Two Killed When Driver Crashes Into Gas Station In Indian River County

A motorist and his passenger were killed in a car wreck on Indian River County after the car crashed into a gas station fuel pump and burst into flames, police said.

The driver was traveling west on Sebastian just past the intersection of Vero Beach Highway in the Hamlet of Gifford when he lost control of the 2013 Audi and struck the pump at a gas station, police said.

The vehicle caught fire, according to the Indian River County Police Department.

Both the driver and the male passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by a the Indian River County Medical Examiner.

The victims’ names were withheld pending family notification.

Photos of the aftermath of the horrific crash show the gas station’s canopy semi-collapsed and the Audi mangled.

Police are still investigation the cause the crash.
