A 49-year-old Boca Raton man, whose Hummer H3 was rear-ended by a Palm Tran bus has died, city police said. The victim died after he was taken to Delray Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
A southbound Palm Tran bus was stopped in the 2400 block of North Federal Highway, between Northeast Spanish River Boulevard and Northeast 20th Street. The bus was dropping passengers off at a regular stop when the victim’s vehicle approached from behind, failed to stop and crashed into it, police said.
The Palm Tran driver, a 44-year old man of West Palm Beach, and some passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries. An update on their conditions was not available, according to the Florida Highway Patrol officials, although city police said none of their injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
Florida Highway Patrol have not revealed whether alcohol or drugs had a role to play in the crash, as investigations are still ongoing. Anyone who has information regarding the crash is asked to contact the traffic homicide investigator.
