A Honda Accord, driven by a 43-year old man, is currently in police custody.

Teaching will always be the passion of the 44-year-old woman, but one disastrous split second in St. Lucie County almost ended her life. She has now put her life’s calling on hold following a freak accident.

The woman had suffered severe injuries and not even her incredibly strong and positive will has been able to reunite her with her Fort Pierce School students in the classroom by way of a permanent return.

She has retired from teaching after being deemed medically unfit by specialists, despite the learning to walk all over again after several months in a wheelchair.

Her husband was holding her hand, thinking that she was slipping away, but her fighting spirit never wavered despite the horrific injuries which would have her in intensive care.

She told him then: “We can get through this thing.”

Police are still investigating the accident.
