A man died in a head-on collision on Coconut Creek. The vehicle was heading into Cooper City when it collided with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
A witness close by heard a loud crash outside her Coconut Creek home and ran out to investigate.
“I was doing the dishes and heard a bang and ran out to see what it was,” she said. “I think there were three people in the four-wheel drive and two in the white car.”
Authorities believe one of the vehicles veered onto the wrong side of the road.
While one man died, two others suffered significant injuries and were rushed to Coconut Creek Hospital.
A mother and two children in the second vehicle were also taken to hospital with injuries, but were not believed to be seriously hurt. An Broward County police officer said a number of possible causes were being looked at.
Police are investigating the incident.
“It’s unclear what has happened, but at this stage it appears one vehicle crossed onto the wrong side of the road. Speed may have been a factor.
“There were other vehicles on the road at the time of the crash and we’re appealing to any witnesses of the incident to come forward and call Broward County police with any information.”
