A 32-year old man was seriously injured after being struck by a van and spent months healing from a crushed leg and learning to walk again.
The accident occurred as the 32-year old traveled south along Indian River Estates past the Lakewood Park intersection on his way to work.
As he rode his motorcycle through the intersection, behind a truck, a van tried to turn onto Lakewood Park behind the truck and hit the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and was hit by another vehicle. The vehicle ran over the man crushing his leg.
The driver of the van that caused the accident was not injured.
The cyclist spent several months in the hospital and another six months in a wheelchair before moving to crutches. The man is now able to walk without crutches.
That intersection where the accident occurred had been named the tenth most dangerous intersection in St. Lucie County. Since the crash a light has been placed at the intersection
