Drunk Driver Causes Injuries After Crashing Into Van

A Delray Beach man transporting carpet north on the Stuart Highway had allegedly been drinking prior to the accident on the Sewall’s Point Stadium roundabout.

The Ford van rolled onto its side and slid across four lanes of traffic narrowly hitting an oncoming truck.

The 23-year-old driver was visibly shaken when police arrived at the scene of the crash.

The crash caused lengthy delays for southbound highway traffic as the road crews cleared of debris.

Police found open beer bottles in the mans car.  Police said the man failed a breathalizer test at the scene and was taken to the Martin County Police Station.

The truck driver had a neck injury and other minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police are still investigating the crash.
