Police have identified an elderly Indian River County couple injured when their car crashed into an oncoming motorcyclist at Florida Ridge.
A Florida Highway Patrol sergeant said, the couple are both in stable condition at a hospital in South Beach.
He said the 89-year old man, who was driving, had an unstable back fracture and his wife had internal chest injuries.
The motorcyclist died at the scene of the crash according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Indian River County police at the scene said the couple’s Toyota Yaris was second in a line of three cars heading toward Wabasso Beach going around the bend just off the Indian River Shores.
An Indian River County police officer said it appeared car three attempted to overtake the two cars in front, then car two attempted to overtake.
He said it seemed cars two and three clipped each other and car two veered off to the left, crashing through a farm fence before slamming into the oncoming motorcyclist.
The police are still investigating the crash.
