A Boca Raton man identified as Jessie Costa was killed when his motorcycle struck was struck by a car in northern Broward County, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office said, Jessie Costa, 38, was driving south on North Powerline Road near Northwest Sixth Street, about one-quarter mile south of the Palm Beach-Broward county border.
A northbound 2008 Ford Expedition, driven by a 58-year old of Deerfield Beach, turned left onto Northwest Sixth Street. Costa braked his 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, causing the motorcycle to roll onto its side and slide into the passenger side of the SUV, the report said. Costa died at the scene.
The report said the driver of the SUV had minor injuries and stayed to cooperate with investigators.
Based on preliminary information, the report said, detectives believe excessive speed by the motorcyclist contributed to the crash. Their investigation continues.
Costa “was a wonderful person. He is so missed by everyone,” his mother said. “Hundreds of people are calling me. He was loved, truly loved.”
His mom said her son worked for a private company in the Boca Raton area and was married with two children, 19 and 5.
She said he also is survived by his father, and a younger brother in Pompano Beach. Funeral arrangements were pending.
