A white 2012 Toyota, black 2014 BMW and a gray 2001 Ford Ranger truck all collided north of the Sunrise Boulevard exit and just south of the Oakland Park Boulevard overpass, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Toyota pickup had hit the concrete barrier wall and overturned on the median.
It was removed then from the wall and placed onto a flatbed tow truck within an hour but the incident caused massive northbound delays on the turnpike as three lanes were initially closed off to traffic.
The driver of the Toyota was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
The pickup’s driver had also sustain head injuries and was taken to Broward Health North Medical Center as a precaution. He was treated for minor injuries and released, said a Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant.
“We are trying to determine what had actually led to that fierce car crash, but it is believed that the alcohol was not the cause,” an FHP sergeant said.
Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate crash. “This is a serious accident resulting in several serious injuries.
