Two people were hurt when a Florida Highway Patrol car chase ended in a crash in St. Lucie County.
The impact threw one person from the car and a second person was trapped in the vehicle when it crashed near a store on Fort Pierce Avenue near St. Lucie Village, according to a police report.
Both occupants were taken to a hospital for treatment. Investigators have not provided an update on their conditions.
St. Lucie County police did not say why Florida Highway Patrol officers were chasing the car. The Florida Highway Patrol Chief could not immediately be reached for comment.
The St. Lucie County police authorities are investigating the crash, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
The main cause of what triggered the police chase car crash in Fort Pierce has not yet been identified by police authorities in the County, although it is believe that no drugs or alcohol had a part to play in the crash, the post reports.
A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman could not provide any additional details, but urged anyone with additional information concerning the crash to reach out to the St. Lucie County police authorities.
