Drug Use Suspected In Four-Vehicle Palm Beach County Crash That Killed 12-Year-Old Girl
A 12-year-old girl died in a four-vehicle crash in Boca Raton that police suspect was the result of drug use.
The girl, identified as a 12-year old of Hobe Sound, died after the crash that happened in the eastbound lanes of Boca Raton near Wellington Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol and the Delray Medical Examiner’s Office.
Drug use is suspected in the crash that remains under investigation, the Florida Highway Patrol said. No charges were have been filed yet as police are still investigating.
A 48-year old of Rivera Beach rear-ended a 2007 Jeep Liberty driven by a 41-year old of River Park. The impact pushed the Jeep into the rear end of a 2012 Subaru Forester driven by a 31-year old of Fort Pierce.
Debris from the crashes struck a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven 49-year-old.
The 48-year old was hospitalized with injuries. An 11-year-old boy in her passenger seat was also brought to the hospital for his injuries. A two-year-old boy in a front-facing child seat was taken by helicopter to University Hospitals in Martin County.
Another 12-year old, seated behind the 48-year old suffered severe injuries, was extricated from the SUV. The 12-year-old was taken by helicopter to Broward County Hospital where she later died.
