Lanes Reopen After Deadly Broward I-95 Car Crash
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol has reopened southbound Interstate 95 near Atlantic Boulevard after a crash involving a woman who witnesses say was run over by multiple vehicles.
Troopers were called to the scene north of Fort Lauderdale.
A witness tells the Miami television station WSVN that he was driving south on the interstate and saw what looked like a body laying across the road. He said he couldn’t react in time and ran over her.
The man says he stopped and spoke to a motorcyclist who told him a woman had been hit. The motorcyclist drove away before police arrived. The witness says other cars hit the woman but he knows of only three people who stopped.
Authorities are investigating the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol, did not disclose if either alcohol or drugs had a part to play in the car crash.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, all lanes were reopened.
The crash in Martin County affected southbound drivers after Kanner Highway for a time. Lanes reopened but there were delays in the area.
