Two people are dead and two were injured after a fiery crash near Palm Springs, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Rescue crews were called to a crash near Melaleuca Lane and Congress Avenue where one car was on fire. A 2016 BMW, driven by 33-year-old man, was speeding down eastbound Melaleuca Lane when he lost control and crossed over into westbound traffic. The BMW slammed into the front of a 2008 Toyota Sienna, then rolled onto its roof and caught fire.
Crews were not able to get Munroe out in time, and he died in the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. It wasn’t until the following week that the medical examiner was able to identify his body from dental records, deputies wrote.
Cristian Hernandez, 25, was a passenger in the other vehicle and was transported in critical condition to St. Mary’s Medical Center, but he was also confirmed dead the following day, according to the crash report.
The 34-year-old driver of the Toyota, from Boulevard, remains in critical condition, and the passenger, 28-year-old Noe Linares, has minor injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
