Jorge Enrique Avila, 50, died in the crash, which took place at Martin County, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The 50-year old man was in Martin County when a woman entered his lane of traffic. The report said a 36-year old woman of Okeechobee, was driving her 2000 Ford F-150 east on Southwest Warfield Boulevard, about 10 miles northwest of Indiantown, when she exited her lane and entered the westbound lane. Avila was driving a 1988 Ford sedan. The cars collided and Avila’s car was engulfed in flames, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.

Avila’s passenger, 48-year-old Zoila Ventura, and Shripka were flown to Lawnwood Medical Center in Fort Pierce with serious injuries. The 36-year old driver’s passenger, a 12-year-old girl, was driven to Martin Hospital South with minor injuries.

It wasn’t immediately known whether the 36-year old or Avila were under the influence of alcohol or any of the four people were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, Florida Highway Patrol officials said. The wreck remains under investigation.
