A Lantana man has died after being involved in a car crash on Congress Avenue, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
The 41-year-old was driving a 2000 Lincoln 4D southbound on Congress Avenue from Lantana Road, just west of Interstate 95
Alvarado’s car left the roadway with his tires on the grass shoulder on the west side of the road.
Alvarado over-corrected, causing the car to turn in a southeast direction and then hit a tractor-trailer in the center median.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The report from the Florida Highway Patrol officials indicates Alvarado was wearing a seat belt, although the report has not been confirmed yet by the Palm Beach Police Department
Five passengers, including the 43-year old driver of the tractor-trailer, suffered severe but non-life threatening injuries according to police officials. They were all taken to a Medical Center in Delray Beach.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol officials, investigations are still ongoing as either alcohol or drugs may have had a part to play in the crash.
Anyone with relevant information concerning the crash should contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
