Six people were killed, including two children ages 7 and 5, in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Jupiter.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the wreck occurred at on I-95 southbound north of the Indiantown Road exit.
A 2001 Mercury Villager minivan, driven by a 33-year old of Stuart, was traveling southbound on I-95.
A 2012 Kia Sorento sport-utility vehicle, driven by a 21-year old of Fort Pierce, was also traveling southbound on I-95 in the center lane.
Florida Highway Patrol said, tread separation occurred on the minivan, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered to the left and struck a concrete barrier wall.
The minivan rotated off the wall, back into the southbound lanes into the path of the Kia Sorento, which struck the right side of the minivan.
Investigators are still trying to determine how many victims were ejected from the vehicle and if anyone was wearing seatbelts.
Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Two victims were pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital and one was pronounced dead at Delray Medical Center.
The deceased were all passengers in the minivan and identified as:
Alexander Julian-Solis, 7 of Stuart
Sandy Julian-Solis, 17, of Stuart
Andres Perez, 18, of Stuart
Macareo Julian-Solis, 14, of Stuart
Marillany Julian-Solis, 5, of Stuart
Reynaldo Diaz, 31, of West Palm Beach
A seventh passenger in the minivan, Daisy Julian-Solis, 11, of Stuart was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center with serious injuries. The 33-year old driver of the minivan was taken to Delray Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the Sorento, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Martin South Hospital.
The southbound lanes of I-95 were closed for the investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
