A 29-year-old woman was killed and her passenger was injured after the scooter she was driving was struck a vehicle in Cooper City, Broward County.
The crash happened near a public park in Cooper City when the vehicle, identified as a pickup truck, collided with the scooter.
The woman and her male passenger were taken to Broward General Hospital where the woman died from her injuries, according to Broward County police officials. The passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries, the police officials added.
There were 5 passengers in the pickup truck when the crash happened, Florida Highway Patrol said. There were no other injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. No further details were immediately available.
“The rate of accidents in Broward County is fast increasing, and the government needs to make this issue a priority, as it has to do with the lives of its citizens,” a Broward County Police Sergeant said in a report released by the post.
