23-Year-Old Devon Standish Killed In Car Crash
A 22-year-old Boca Raton man was rescued from a burning vehicle after his vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 95 in Palm Beach County.
The wreck took placed early on Interstate 95 south in Daytona Beach.
Logan Aschendorf was taken to an Orlando hospital in critical condition after a Volusia County deputy and an Edgewater police officer pulled him from a burning Cadillac SUV in Interstate 95.
Another man, Devon Standish, 23, of Daytona Beach was killed. The crash happened shortly at mile marker 242, about 20 miles south of Daytona Beach, according to a Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol and the Palm Beach Sheriff Office crash report, Standish was driving north in the southbound lanes when his Honda Insight collided with Aschendorf’s Cadillac, causing the SUV to catch fire. It was not clear how Standish ended up traveling in the wrong direction. Investigators are trying to determine whether alcohol was a factor.
The Florida Highway Patrol and the Palm Beach Sheriff Office is urging anyone with relevant information concerning the crash to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
