The Florida Highway Patrol said, a driver fled the scene of a crash involving a patrol car and another vehicle.
A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper was driving on the northbound Interstate 95 exit ramp preparing to make a left turn onto 45th Street.
The Trooper said, he saw a 2014 Mazda driving carelessly in the right turn lane and over the raised curb to enter the left turn lane.
After completing the turn, the Trooper attempted to stop the Mazda. Florida Highway Patrol said, the driver of Mazda, identified as a 25-year-old of Lake Worth, made a left turn to enter southbound Interstate 95 and struck a 1999 Nissan that was traveling eastbound on 45th Street.
The impact caused the other vehicle to strike the Florida Highway Patrol vehicle. The cause of the crash remains under investigation to determine the color of the light facing the Nissan.
Florida Highway Patrol said, the 25-year-old fled the scene on foot and was later found on the roof of a nearby Holiday Inn. He was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment and later transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.
He is charged with failing to stop after a crash, driving with a suspended license, resisting an officer and drug possession.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to JFK North Medical Center and identified as 46-year-old Aldonza Appolo of West Palm Beach.
The FHP Trooper was treated and released from St. Mary’s Medical Center.
