A 14-year-old girl is fighting for her life and may never walk again following a Jensen Beach car crash that killed her five-month’ pregnant stepmom, her grandmother told The Post.
The girl is in a coma at Jensen Beach Medical Center after undergoing surgery for bleeding in the brain and a broken spine.
The wreck left her stepmom dead and two others, her 22-year-old son and her 28-year-old brother injured. ,
Her grandmother said the swelling in her granddaughter’s brain has gone down but that the teen still hasn’t woken up since the accident. “She is in a deep coma,” her grandmother said, before leaving the hospital to visit her other 22-year-old grandson, who suffered a broken collarbone, at Jensen Beach Medical Center.
The 24-year-old girl’s mother, a farm worker from Boynton Beach, was en route to make a vegetable delivery when her 2013 Ford van rear-ended a 2014 Volvo truck. Her 22-year-old son and the 24-yea- old year girl were sitting in the back seat at the time. Her 28-year- old brother, who was sitting in the front seat, suffered a leg injury.
FHP said, the cause of the crash is still under investigation, and anyone with relevant information concerning the crash should contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
