An unidentified male passenger inside a 2005 Lexus has been killed in a crash on Interstate 95 which closed the highway’s southbound lanes for several hours near Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, according Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver, aged 34, of Fort Lauderdale, was rushed to Saint Mary’s Medical Center with severe injuries and another passenger was listed in critical condition in Delray Medical Center.
The Lexus was seen traveling south on I-95 when a tire blowout occurred causing the car to spin into a 2015 Volvo, FHP discloses in the crash report.
According to the agency, the trailer had collided with the Lexus’s rear, the Volvo driver also sustained minor injuries in the wreck.
The cause of the crash still remains unknown as police investigations are still going on.
Investigators hope to get all the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 open soon, according to FHP.
According to the FHP, traffic are currently being diverted and all southbound lanes are closed.
FHP has not yet revealed the identity of the driver who died, as they deem it fit to keep his identity secret
