A Palm Beach neighborhood is still reeling after a van jumped a curb and struck a 3-year-old toddler in a stroller, killing him and injuring his 4-year-old sister.
A makeshift memorial was growing for the boy, whose name has not been released by police officials. The incident occurred in Palm Beach County where a van and a car collided and sent the van onto the sidewalk, the FHP reports.
“It’s affecting everybody in the county,” a reporter told the newspaper. “Parents and caregivers are out here all the time, walking with their kids.”
A 36-year-old man said, the dangerous intersection has long been problematic for the county.
“I just think this street has been crazy for some time now,” he told the newspaper. “This was bound to happen sooner or later.”
Another man who declined to provide his name, said the woman who pushed the boy’s stroller was his nanny. She also cared for the boy’s sister, he said.
The Police Commissioner said, the accident was a terrible tragedy, adding that both drivers stayed on the scene. Investigators were trying to locate witnesses, as well as to track down possible video surveillance of the crash, according to the post.
Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate crash. “This is a serious accident resulting in a fatality. We hope the investigators can quickly determine what caused the accident. Please be careful and obey the speed limits whenever you are driving a motorcycle, car, SUV or truck.
