A driver was arrested for plowing into a woman who was walking with two 5-year-old boys in Broward County, critically injuring the children, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened as a 27-year-old woman was attempting to cross the street with the girls at the intersection of Davie and Coconut Creek.
That’s when a Hyundai SUV driven by a 56-year-old woman struck the trio as she was making a left turn onto Coconut Creek from Davie, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The two boys were then rushed to a hospital in Coral Springs in Broward County in critical condition and are said to have been upgraded to stable condition, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
The 27-year-old woman who was caring for the children across the street was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
The police said, she is not related to the girls and she was described by the police as a family friend.
The 46-year-old woman who was driving the Hyundai SUV, who was still on the incident scene, was arrested and also charged with failure to yield to pedestrians, Florida Highway Patrol said.
